Today is a holiday in Utah. It's the day the pioneers finally got to the Salt Lake Valley and Brigham Young said his most famous words, "This is the place". I have many pioneer ancestors including James Laird who was part of the Willie Handcart Company. Many who were in the Willie and Martin Handcart Companies died from starvation and cold after being persecuted and driven out of Illinois in the mid 1800's.
To celebrate the holiday my sister Angie and I took the kids to This Is The Place State Park and enjoyed lots of great pioneer activities. The kids were able to do all sorts of farm chores and play pioneer games. It was a lot of fun but I am so happy to be sitting in the cool air conditioning now.

Great pictures, April! How many sisters do you have?!?!?
Wow what a great fun day you all had! It definently looks like all the kiddos had a blast! You all have such a beautiful family!
Thanks guys. I have 2 sisters and a brother.
Looks like a blast! The 24th is my brother and father in laws' birthdays too!
I have heard that this is a great place to go on the 24th. We went one day last summer when it was raining and that was a perfect time to go. It was cool and all the little baby animals were out enjoying the rain. So cute.
It looks like you had a great day.
Don't you love the 24th! Looks like you guys had just as much fun as we did! We'll have to check this place out next year when Emerson is a little older. Have you been there for the Halloween or Christmas festivities? So fun!
Love it! Great pictures. I have to get these from you. (: That was a fun day. Thanks for going with me.
